Tuscany is famous for its many pieces of art

With great minds like Leonardo da Vinci hailing from Tuscany, it’s not hard to see why this breathtaking region is full of iconic masterpieces. This is one of the main reasons why Tuscany is commonly considered to be one of the best places for a person to go if they want to see some truly spectacular art.

Anyone who wants to stay in Italy should visit Tuscany to see some of the many amazing pieces here, including:

The statue of David by Michelangelo

The marble statue of David, which stands to 5.17 meters, was sculpted in the city of Florence, Tuscany. It was made by Michelangelo to represent the Biblical hero David and, because of this, it went on to become a symbol of the defense of civil liberties for the Republic of Florence.

If you want to see one of the world’s most famous sculptures in person, be sure to pay a visit to the Gallery of the Academy of Florence (Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze).

The Gates of Paradise

The Gates of Paradise are the carefully and beautifully sculpted bronze doors of the Florence Baptistery, created by the artist of the Early Renaissance, Lorenze Ghiberti. The name actually came from Michelangelo, and they’re a must visit if you want to see an outstanding example of Lorenzo’s abilities as a goldsmith and sculptor.

Artwork of Madonna of Parturition

There are several pieces of art based on the Madonna of Parturition (which is better known as Madonna del Parto), a depiction of the Virgin Mary as she was pregnant. One of the most famous pieces of art to represent this is the fresco created by the artist Piero della Francesca, although the ones by Taddeo Gaddi and Nardo di Cione are also incredible.

Be sure to visit the Musei Civici Madonna del Parto – located in Monterchi, Tuscany, to see this amazing masterpiece for yourself.
