Cycling in Tuscany

If you enjoy biking, our Cycling in Tuscany Tour could be the perfect way for you to experience the astounding beauty that the Italian countryside has to offer. If you’re not the competitive type, you’ll be glad to hear that our tours provide a relaxing pace as you travel through Tuscany, stopping off in stunning locations like Cortona and Lake Trasimeno to name just two.

There are so many unique experiences and sights that our tour has to offer. With excursions exploring the medieval towns within the area, biking sessions through the hills and valleys, and a fantastic opportunity to have a cooking lesson (and meal) with an experienced Italian chef; this is exactly why we think you should consider coming with us to see Tuscany in all its glory.

From taking a peek into the Tuscan lifestyle by visiting a local cantina, to traveling to Isola Maggiore on a ferry; there are a number of great ways to spend your time cycling here that you’ll be spoiled for choice.

Typically, since these tours require at least 2 people to book in, they’re perfect for couples looking to spend some quality time together in this beautiful part of Italy, as well as groups of bikers who want a trip through this amazing location to add to their adventures.

For an exciting holiday that’s more than memorable in its own right, you may want to consider hiring an eBike; as while there are plenty of amazing landmarks to see on our dedicated trips, you might also want to do a little bit of sightseeing during your down time.

To ensure that you’ll get the most from your experience, our cycling tours run from the 16th of May all the way through to the 12th of September, as these are the warmer months where Tuscany is at its best.

Tour Itinerary

  • SATURDAY – Arrival
    • Ready to start your cycling adventure in the heart of Tuscany? Before we begin, we’ll bring you to one of our villas to ensure that you arrive safely and ready for the trip ahead of you. Where you will have the whole afternoon to find out more about what’s nearby. First of all, you’ll be taken into Cortona (a stunning local town) to enjoy some fine dining as you eat a Tuscan-style dinner.
  • SUNDAY – Cortona
    • “When it’s time for the next part of your trip, which is traveling through the town of Cortona and the countryside around it, we’ll come to collect you from your villa and head to the starting point. You’ll be traveling along cycle paths and taking in the stunning views of the area while you explore the town and its surrounding countryside. At around 1pm, you’ll probably be about ready for something to eat – which is why we tend to travel back into town for lunch at this point.
    • After that, you’ll have some leisure time in Cortona which you can spend as you please; whether that involves a casual cycle or shopping. When it’s time to head back, you could either take a relaxed cycle ride to your villa, or we could take you back ourselves if you’d prefer. Once you’ve had some leisure time of your own back at the villa, which you can spend in any way you please, we’ll take you back into Cortona to enjoy a traditional Tuscan dinner that we’re sure you’ll love.”
    • Cycle Countryside & Township
  • MONDAY – Siena & San Gimignano
    • “For a fresh start to the week, we’ll be taking you to visit the ancient and cultural town of San Gimignano.
    • Here, you’ll be able to take a quick coffee break before learning more about the town’s rich history. Next, you’ll have some time to explore this location, whether that’s taking a relaxing bike ride around the town, shopping, talking to locals, or just taking in the scenery. When you’re done, we’ll travel to Siena – and from here, you’ll be shown around the village on bike by your guide to learn more about this stunning town and the many sights on offer. In the time before dinner, you’ll be able to do whatever you please; whether that’s exploring the area on bike, or visiting one of the local tavernas. Later, we’ll meet you at a restaurant in this stunning location for dinner, and while wine is included, it might be a wise idea to not drink too much if you hope to cycle back to your villa after (but don’t worry, as we can transport you there ourselves!)”
  • TUESDAY – Cycle Lake Trasimeno
    • To start the day, we’ll pick you up and take you to Lake Trasimeno, ready for your tour. If you want, you can buy and/or prepare lunch for yourself, which you can eat whenever you want during the tour. Don’t forget to do some cycling though, as the lake is an amazing setting for some biking. Then, at around 3pm, we’ll take you to a kitchen where you’ll learn from an expert how to cook a 4 course Italian meal. You’ll be under the guidance of an experienced Italian Chef for your lesson, and once you’ve finished cooking you’ll get to enjoy the meal you have created.
    • Cooking Class
  • WEDNESDAY – Cycle Montepulciano
    • “You’re scheduled for an exciting day today, and we’ll start by taking you to your destination, ready for the adventure to begin

    • When you’re done, you’ll be able to take some time to explore – and with so much to see and do in the area, you may find it hard to make a decision on how to spend your time, but don’t worry we’ll be there to assist. Afterwards, at 3 pm, it’s time to cycle back to the villa. Then, you’ll have some time to rest up and do what you please before we take you to a local restaurant in Cortona for a dining experience.”

    • Then, you’ll have a long lunch at the Querceto di Castellina Winery – and you’ll also get the chance to taste some of the fresh and local wines while you eat and learn more about the culture.”
  • FRIDAY – Tour Free Day
    • On a tour free day, you’ll have the chance to do anything that wasn’t included in the tour, or perhaps just do a little traveling on your own. If you’d like, we can take you into Cortona to get something to eat or drink, or you could order a snack and take a stroll around the town. To say goodbye and thank you for your stay, we’ll offer you a traditional Italian Aperitivo and a dinner.
