Siena sees countless visitors every year, and you’re likely to find that there are a range of reasons for you to stop by. Regardless of what you want from your vacation in Tuscany, you’re sure to want to visit this city.

Piazza del Campo

Found in the heart of Siena, this is one of the most popular parts of Siena. This location is home to some truly magnificent architecture, which is sure to help you to immerse yourself in the beauty of Tuscany. Fonte Gaia and Palazzo Comunale are just two of the great landmarks you’ll want to see.

The Palio di Siena is held here twice a year, too. This is the biggest event in the city and if you visit in July or August, you won’t want to miss it.

The Torre del Mangia

One of the greatest structures located in the area is the Torre del Mangia. The views from the top of the tower are truly magnificent – and most would agree that it’s well worth the long climb that it takes to get there.

The Civic Museum also has plenty to see too, so you might want to get a combined ticket to explore both sites.

Piazza del Duomo

Home of Tuscany’s greatest sites are located in this part of Siena, and this alone makes it a great place to visit for anyone who wants to make the most of their time in the city. The Piccolomini Library and the Crypt are just a few of the amazing landmarks to be discovered, so be sure to check them out if you decide to visit Piazza del Duomo.

The Duomo in Siena

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, also known as the Duomo in Siena, is by far one of the most well known sites here, with most people visiting Piazza del Duomo just to see this magnificent church. This site is truly breathtaking, and inside you’ll see works of art from greats like Michelangelo, Donatello, and many more.

The Santa Maria della Scala

One of the oldest hospitals in the whole of Europe, the Santa Maria della Scala, is an incredible site that anyone visiting Siena should consider taking a look at. It’s located by the Duomo, so finding it shouldn’t be too much of a difficult task. Some of the structure is still being restored, but it is open to visitors.
